Fianl poem of the night. a rewrite not very Dark Prince like. Could it be improved.?

"sprung"

Winter's passed us by,

disappeared, I blinked my eye.

All the doom and gloom,

it's all over none too soon.

Spring has sprung, all around,

birds and bees a lovely sound.

My mood has changed, all is right,

no more icy, snowy nights.

The chill of Winter's gone,

hung around for way too long.

Thought he'd got the best of me,

I'm still standing, feeling free.

Spring comes only once a year,

but it wipes out all my fear.

Crocus, roses all sublime,

I feel love, now is the time.

Fianl poem of the night. a rewrite not very Dark Prince like. Could it be improved.?
This is well done, light airey and filled with hope. I like the subject and the way you have approached it. As for the Dr., I would like to add that "fluff" is ground up paper used in disposable diapers and is obviously what is packed inside his head to keep it from imploding.
Reply:A rare jewel of all gems written by an uncommon poet for all seasons - Happiness, high above the cold winter snow and the dark bottomless pit. An ornament of beauty, depicting my name. This type poetry leaves readers of spring with happy thoughts throughout the day. Thanks for writing for all of us! That is a rare gift.
Reply:Loved it. If you really want to improve it you could add allusions, alliteration, metaphors, ect. otherwise it's fine the way it is. God bless!
Reply:lmao!!!! Ahah Steve did you hit your head??!! This is killer!! LOL its way to fluffy for you Steve! Good job, but its just not your thing! Please go backk to being my DARKK prince. :) xoxo good job

What do you put on tulip bulbs to make them bloom?

I planted many bulbs last fall--tulips, crocus, daffidils and I don't know what else. I didn't put any fertilizer with them. Now that they are coming up, can I put something on them to make sure they bloom real nice?

At the store I saw "bone meal" for tulips--Can I use this now?? Or should I wait till after they bloom then put bone meal on them for next Spring.

My front yard has many bulbs coming up but I noticed in the back yard not to many. Which means squirrels, rabbits or deer. I bought some "liquid fence" to try but does human hair and cat poop do the trick to make these critters stay away.

What do you put on tulip bulbs to make them bloom?
Tulips don't need feeding before they flower.

If you want to feed them wait till after they bloom, but only if your soil is poor.

After the tulips have bloomed, make sure you don't cut their foliage, because letting them die back naturally is what Really feeds the bulb.

the flowers are already formed inside the bulb! isn't that cool!

it could be that the bulbs in the backyard have had cooler temperatures or more shade and they are just slower to emerge. Have you noticed holes and digging where you planted?

Yep, tulips are planted in fall and they bloom in spring. Like iris's. They don't reproduce as well as iris's though. Depending on your climate at least. Generally tulip bulbs will grow until they are about 12 cm, then they'll divide. When tulips make new baby bulbs off the sides they'll take another 4 years or so to flower. If they like the spot they're in, they could do some nice reproducing, depending where you are. But generally I think of tulips being a bit finicky and not naturalizing like daffodils, crocus, or iris.
Reply:The rule of thumb is only use fertilizer DURING growing/blooming season. In the case of tulips. or other bulbs do it as soon as they begin to emerge. It is always best to use bone meal in the fall when you plant.

Use a all purpose fertilizer such as a 10-10-10 and follow direction on the box.

Otherwise fertilize in the early spring.

Q. For the best spring flower display, when should I fertilize my tulip and daffodil bulbs?

A. To produce the maximum number of top-quality spring flowers, tulips and daffodils require care first in fall, at planting time, and then again in spring.

Reply:Tulips are to me very similar to the iris. First with my experience they need to be in the ground a full year before they reaaly have pretty blooms. Other than that there is no real trick. Mine on the back side of my house have more daylight sun and are starting to flower now, on the other hand ones on the end having little sun or afternoon sun are only green leaves still. Give them time my dear, after awile they will be mutiplying and blooming and will make you proud. Good luck to you. I'm a yard person myself!

Have you found anything new and exciting in your garden this Spring?

The crocus have finally popped!

And other things are starting to poke through!

I wish I could remember what I planted where last year!

Have you found anything new and exciting in your garden this Spring?
I don't know about "new" and I don't know about "exciting", but yesterday I was pulling up weeds around one of my flower beds and found a tiny ground rattler!! OMG!!!!

How can I identify a flower growing in my yard?

I know its a bulb. Its small like a crocus. Its reddish-orange with a bright yellow clover-shaped ring in the middle.

I have a photo of it in my photos in myspace. if you go to my profile you see the link to myspace where it is. I dont know how to post it here.

Any advise at all is helpful! Thanks!

How can I identify a flower growing in my yard?
What you have there is, indeed, a red crocus. Check out this site for verification. The six petals and shape of the middle are a dead give away for this particular flower.
Reply:If you live in a northern climate it will be a crocus. Too early for other bulbs to be blooming.

Hello English Friends across the Great Blue! What do you plan on growing in your gardens this Spring?

I'm really curious to hear what folks in other countries grow in their home flower and veggie gardens. We live in the Midwest, in the States, and here's what we'll have:

Loads of tulips, daffodils, crocus, hyacinths, and other bulbs my girls planted with me in the fall.

We'll plant zinnias, cosmos, morning glories, roses, along with butterfly bushes, stargazer lillies, daylillies, lilacs, mulberry bushes, and tons of other flowers.

Our veg garden will have loads of tomatoes, Indian corn (the girls love the colors), cucumbers, and some herbs. We have deer, rabbits, and bunnies, so lots of other veggies get nibbled down. :)

I was wondering what you all grow? How big are your yards? Ours is .78 acre which is 2,608 square meters . We usually start planting our spring gardens around Mother's Day in mid-May - is it the same for you?

Thanks so much! I can't wait to get the Spring Gardens going, and have always wondered what gardeners in other countries planted. :D

Hello English Friends across the Great Blue! What do you plan on growing in your gardens this Spring?
I prefer growing fruit %26amp; veggies rather than pretty things (that's my dad's job) but I have bought some Cosmos bulbs - the type that smell of chocolate.

This year, I am growing from seed -

Tomatoes (cherry and normal)

Physilis (aka cape gooseberry)

Runner beans

Haricot beans

Garlic (planted in December)

Mushrooms (from spores)

The physilis and tomatoes will be kept inside my greenhouse, although the tomatoes could live outside quite happily.

I also have (as perrenials) -

Lemon balm

Raspberries

Blackcurrants

Blackberries (more of a weed, we keep trying to get rid of them)

Mint

Thyme

Fennel

Strawberries

I also have a couple of pet chickens who lay eggs, and produce fertiliser :) I couldn't begin to list all the other, non edible plants in the garden, there are so many, but our garden is about 100 - 130 foot long and 15 - 20 foot wide. I have just planted the seeds for the tomatoes and physilis, but most others will have to wait a bit longer, once it has warmed up and we are no longer having frosts.

PS I'm in SW England.
Reply:except for the pysalis and chickens I am right down there with Helena in location (Tavistock, Devon) and what I'm growing
